ActivitiesRCF is fulfilling its mission of increasing access to medical equipment
and improving quality of life for persons with serious illnesses by donating
infusion
pumps and other activities. Infusion Pumps Donated to Hotel Dieu Hospital Shortly after the Rose Craig Foundation was established in early 2000,
Ben and Rose Craig made the inaugural contribution to the Foundation.
The
donated funds were used by RCF to purchase a SIMS
Deltec ambulatory
infusion pump for
the Palliative Care Program
at Hotel Dieu Hospital in St. Catharines, Ontario.
To date, the Foundation has purchased three portable infusion pumps for the Hotel Dieu's Palliative Care Program. The Foundation will continue to purchase pumps and other medical equipment for charitable organizations in Canada and the United States.
Other ActivitiesRCF Canada is getting involved in Palliative Care education. RCF is committed to helping Dr. Brian Kerley and the Hotel Dieu's Palliative Care Program purchase a laptop and LCD projector that will be used to educate the private and public sectors on the need for additional palliative care funding and nursing commitment to enhance pain symptom management. RCF USA is in the process of identifying national and local not-for-profit organizations in the United States that would benefit from the Foundation’s support. Two organizations that RCF expects to support this year are the University of Pennsylvania Health System's Wissahickon Hospice, one of the oldest and largest hospice programs in the Greater Philadelphia region, and Fox Chase Cancer Center’s Palliative Care Service. Fox Chase Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit institution devoted to improving cancer treatment and prevention.
