2nd Annual Golf Tournament was a Big Success!

On July 14th, 2001, an enthusiastic group of veterans and rookies gathered for the 2nd annual RCF golf tournament at Brock Golfland in St. Catharines, Ontario.  The tournament was held to raise funds for the Palliative Care Program at the Hotel Dieu Hospital in St. Catharines, Ontario.  Sixty golfers played in this year's tournament, which was an increase of almost 25% from last year.  Everyone had a great time and nearly $3,000 was raised in golf fees and donations.  It was a gorgeous day and everyone who turned out had a great time.  We're already looking forward to next year's event and we hope that you'll join us and have some fun for a very good cause!!

And the winners were...   Larry Black (58, men's low gross), Beth Kerley (65, women's low gross), and William Kerley (71, youth low gross).

Lowest net scores (calculated using the Callaway scoring system) were turned in by Rich Dekker (59) and Jackie Galloway (61) for the women.

The team competition was won by foursome of Pete McBride, John Rhodes, Paul Vaughn, and Gary Watton, who turned in an overall score of 70 with their yellow ball.

And, for the first time in tournament history, the male and female awards in a category went to a husband and wife:  Chris and Charlotte Johnson walked away with the Most Honest Golfer awards!!

Raffles

The excitement in the room was high as Steve Champion drew the winning raffle number for the biggest prize of the day:  a BMW Roadster for a weekend!!  The lucky winners were Dino DiMaurizio, who walked away with the prize, and the Hotel Dieu's Palliative Care program, which will receive the proceeds from the raffle -- over $600!!  Our sincere thanks to Steve Champion and Performance BMW of St. Catharines for donating the fabulous BMW prize.  We eagerly accept Steve's challenge to raise $1000 with this raffle next year!!

The second raffle item was the official NBA infusion basketball with a built-in pump.  Thanks to Mark DiMaurizio for donating the basketball -- over $90 was raised raffling it off!!
